Default Rancher owners look....

I rolled my 2004 rancher last weekend sideways down a hill. Now I noticed that it seems like the right-hand side of the machine is sits lower than the left side. I never noticed this before, but i guess i wasnt looking. If I measure at the edges of the rear rack to the ground, the right side is about and inch lower, maybe even a tad more. same thing at the edge of the plastic around the footpegs. It's noticable that the whole machine looks like it's leaning to the right, and I've verified the tire pressures are all at the same pressure. Could any of you look at your machines and see if yours is the same way?

I have full coverage insurance, and i filed a claim and said the frame might be bent. If this is normal, I'm not too worried about it, I'll just keep riding it, and i'll peel the claim and tell them not to worry about it. I dont know if any dealers around me have any new 2004's left, and i dont think i'll get enough from the claim if they total it for a 2005

Racks and handlebars seem sacrificial, measure under the bike on level pavement from diff frame parts to the ground for starters. Then to higher parts to see how they measure. Sometimes its just an illusion. I know, I'm riding an "illusion" right now. Someday will replace the handlebar so it will look right again, maybe.

no, i didnt bend the racks, the whole machine sits to one side. I measured from the ground to the foot pegs and there is a big difference.

Mine is pretty much even. Did you bend any of the fender brackets, etc that might make your rack be off? It may be hard to tell but I'd start to look there. I would doubt your frame is bent unless it took a really nasty spill.

i guess i'll have to buy another one.. I'll get another yellow one, but i think i'll get an ES

actually, you would not even be able to tell by pictures that there is anything wrong with it!!! It would look just fine. There are some scratches on the handlebars and plastics, but other than that it looks fine. But when I looked real close, I noticed one side of the machine sits lower than the other. Did some measuring, and things didnt look good. So i told my insurance, and the rest is history
