Local Dealer SUCKS (RANT) - You too?

<the following are just my opinions>
Just some free advice, warning—stay away from "Chapman's Sport Center" in Lapeer, MI!!!!! This is a family business that sells the Polaris line and also boats and accessories.
EXCELLENT customer service IF you are buying. They are all smiles and have knowledgable sales people. But after you sign on the dotted line they make it obvious they want you to leave and only come back if buying more. I was thrilled with how the pre-sales and purchase went. Dale Jr. (son of the owner) really took his time to answer all questions and they have ONE out the door price with no BS additional charges. <nice>
BUT their service BLOWS!!! "Randy", one of the monkey wrenchers will give you a "song and dance" routine about how great Polaris is and that if you need anything don't hesitate to call him, they are the "best Polaris mechanics in the area because we only sell Polaris and we're highly trained" blah, blah, blah. He will gladly bend over backwards for you with any problem you may have. OK, I'll admit this fairy tale really worked on me and I left with a warm and fuzzy feeling. He really has his performance perfected.
<<Fast-forward 5 months>>
I had a minor switch problem about 3 months after I bought my 500 H.O. so I called Randy and he said no problem, he'll order the part, but I should wait to bring it in just before the warrenty expires in case something else goes wrong (this made sense, so I waited).
Two months later I dropped-off my ATV, he told me they were really busy and it would probably take about 3 days. Never hearing back from him I called back a week later, he tells me <again> how busy they are and "Oh, your's is next in line to be fixed" and he said he'd call me right away to pick it up. Four days later (after another weekend) still no word — so I called back again in the morning (during a work day) and he says "I was just getting ready to call you, it's been done and your all set. I got a strange feeling that they actually did the repair AFTER I hung-up with him because he knew my work schedule and that I'd have to leave work a little early to get there before they closed. If I had it to do over again I would have left work right then! It would have been great to catch him in a lie.
Later (couple months) I went back to buy some oil and filters and the two guys behind the parts counter (one is in his 20s, the other is 40-ish), were your typical arogant parts a$$--les. They act like not only are you bothering them, but they are doing you a b-i-g favor even talking to you. I only asked about getting an extra ignition key (mine only came with one) and about ordering a service manual. They didn't seem to really give a damn.
Anyway, does this seem to be the norm with service departments?
I've had it. I will not buy ANYTHING from this place. After all they earned. I'll gladly find another further away dealer or even pay a little more and order my stuff online. Then the thought occured to me; Maybe this is exactly what they want. Just to sell new and service nothing, but you'd think people wouldn't go back. I know I'm not and we are planning to buy my wife a new quad very soon.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but when you spend big money on a four-wheeler you would at least like to get treated like they apreciate your business... even just a little.

I dont have any experience with that dealer. But I have a very short list of m/c shops that I will spend my money in. I usually do everything online. It amazes me that I get better service from a guy in Texas or where ever than I can get from the local shop. I am not sure what happened to customer service these days.

i just got the predator limited edition at K&W cycle on Auburn rd near Rochester MI. The sales were freindly as you would expect, some better than others, but were knowledgeable in the polaris line. There not just a polaris dealer. I didnt have any problems with the purchase or the pickup of the atv. I have been in there many other times to buy parts for my other quads and bikes and the parts people were tremendous in helping me. One part they would of had to order and I told them i need it by the weekend and they told me it wouldnt be possible so I didnt order it and we found an alternative to getting those parts for cheaper. They could have lied and said it would of arrived in time just to make the sale but they didnt and that shows alot of character. I havent dealt with the service dept yet because i dont like the cost of labor on atvs so i dont have any opionions on this yet. I have two complaints though on them, they are a little more expensive then other dealers and especially online and the sales service is really slow. Multiple times I have to wait 10 to 15 minutes just to get rung up at the cash register because no body is there. I paid 7100 for the LE predator out the door but that was after talking them down $700. Them msrp is 6600 for the LE Pred. It was the first day the pred LE arived at the dealers so it was a hot item. Mrhell, maybe you want to try this dealer out instead of yours.
I have bought 5 motorcylces and 3 four wheelers from 4 different dealers and I am still yet to find one that I am satisfied with. They all have poor customer service in my opionion which is ridiculous because as consumers we can get the products from anywhere so they need to do something to seperate themselves. The only dealer I found that i have had perfect experiance with is my Caddilac dealer were I bought my escalade.

that reminds my of a TERRIBLE dealer that sells Suzuki and John Deere.
All Power in Granby, MA (also known as Suzuki of Western Mass) is THE WORST dealer in the State. from their difficult, abnoxios sales staff (2 are OWNERS!) to their poorly trained mechanics, they absolutely have the WORST REP AROUND. i'm not going to write what they did to me because i will end up busting the keys on my keyboard but it was a tragedy. and i'm not the only one either. many folks i share my misfortunes with have had problems or know of their bad reputation.
.........but still they continue on! go figure!
ON THE OTHER HAND, my Polars dealer is TOP-NOTCH! TERRIFIC from the sales dept to service. they care about the customer AND IT SHOWS!
