Default New Grizz

Well I finally did it and purchased a new blue 05 Grizz. After months of debating and reading on the forums I decided that I would take the plunge and get a bigger machine. I had intended on getting a Kodiak, but for about $1000 more I got a Grizz and couldn't be happier. I appreciate all the info everyone gave as it made my decision easier. I went from Honda to Suzuki to Arctic Cat to finally Yamaha. I think all the bikes have there good points, but for me it was the power of the 660 and the blue color scheme. It looks awesome right off the showroom floor. I was wondering what kind of oil and filter I should be using. The manual says Yamalube 20W50 or 10W30. I was also wondering about filters. I've read that auto filters aren't as good as motorcyle filters. I order stuff from Rocky Mountain all the time and saw that they had Emgo filters for $5. Would these be allright or should I stick with OEM?

I use the OEM stuff from the dealer. I figure I only change the oil every 20hrs so why not just get the good stuff?

Also, I tend to change it at the last minute and don't want to have wait on shipping

I use 0w40 Amsoil in my griz. In the bear tracker I use the 20w50 from the factory. The 0w40 is good in any temperature range and is supposed to be the best. I will be changing it once a season. I don't really think that there is anything wrong with the fram oil filters, but some people think that they are junk. That is why some cars run for hundreds of thousands of miles without problems with those filters. I sometimes us the K&N oil filters because a dealer in town sells them.

I use Amsoil 0W40 in my 05 Grizzly, and K&N oil filter just because it is easier to get out with the socket head on it...Good Luck and enjoy the Grizzly....
