650 V2 Belt Reset Procedure
#1
Anyone who knows me here will tell you I try to give accurate information however due to model changes some things may be different. You folks may already know this but I hope it helps someone.
This procedure works for the 04 V2 650 Artic Cat ATV
1.With ignition Key in the OFF position - Belt cover side of quad.
2.Unplug belt sensor (2 wire)(flat connector) and the 4 wire harness (square connector) next to it (black connector)
3.Jumper the orange/green wire to the gray (possibly gray/green) wire right next to it in the connector.
4.Turn the Key ON (Belt light should flash rapidly then flash slow) Do not turn the key off until slow flashing light occurs. Whole procedure takes about 10 seconds.
5.Turn Key Off
6.Plug in all connectors that were unplugged to do the reset procedure.
7.Turn Key ON to verify reset (If belt light flashes you either need to take you bike in for the recall on voltage spikes in the CDI circuit) or to take the cover off and reset the belt switch to the rear of the cover - reinstall and follow the above steps again.
Note your dealer has a part number for the jumper to do this procedure however I heard it costs like 14 dollars and all it does is jumper these two wires and does not provide instruction. I took the Prairie service manual and an Artic Cat wiring diagram and figured this out for a friend who lives several miles away from his AC dealership and it worked perfectly for his 2004 model V2. His light came back on and they had to install what looks to be a noise supressor in his CDIs circuit to make his light keep from coming back on. Something about the harness having high AC spiking due to the way AC wrapped the harness is what he was told. The dealer was impressed we figured the reset out but if that is all it takes to impress his dealer I told him he was hurting LOL.
Hope this information is beneficial and like everyone else I make no claims to accuracy or take no responsibilities for anyones ride.

I'm having the "belt" problem but I can't find the 4 pin connector on my 06, it's not next to the 2 pin. The dealer didn't have a clue as I'm probably the only AC in the state. I ordered the $9 part but don't know where to plug it once I get it. Any suggestions?

If they did, nobody told my dealer. He wants me to reverse the two prong wires and disconnect the 4 prong but we can't find it. Another service center wants me to bring it in and he will reset it for $50. They both know it's an 06. I did just order the Dyna CDI for it. I don't know what else to do.
UPDATE
The 4 pin connector on the 06 is up under the seat, not the same as the 05, and the reset procedure requires the plug in reset part, I ordered it but I don't have the part # on hand, I'll add later. I did add the Dyna cdi and fixed that problem. I checked the belt and it measured a little loose. I want to change out the springs while I'm in there but I have seen the "clutch kits" and I'm not sure if I need to do the whole kit or just the springs. I trail ride with a little mud in the mix and I'm looking for a little friendly advise.
I've taken my cat apart to snorkel and now the belt, it's like the projects just keep comming. If I keep going I'll be down to the frame by Thursday. Oh, did I mention this is the first time I've ever done anything mechanical? Taking it apart is alot of fun, I hope putting it back together is as much fun.
