Default Gear Removal from gearcase 400L

I am trying to take out the innards of a gearcase from a 95 400L 2x4. I have taken off the first bearing, needle bearing and gear and now I am stuck. I know this is a little vague, but how do I remove the shaft and gears that the dogs are on so that I can get out the big main gear? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You should be able to tap it out with a rubber hammer,if not you may have to heat the case a little.

CED,
First, thanks for responding. Second, the problem that I am actually having is that the dogs are holding the shaft and gears in. How do I get it so that the dogs are not in the way to pull that shaft out? Man, I know this is hard to explain, but if I could move the shift dogs, I would be about to get the one shaft out that is holding everything else in.
Thanks

Are u referring to the shift forks??? If so, the shafts they are on should pull out of the case, then remove the forks, hope this helps.
