A buddy of mine has an 83 Honda 110 3 wheeler and it is having a problem.
After about 15 minutes of riding the power will start to cut out. He has to shut it off (if it doesn't die) let
it cool off and then start it again. It will run fine for about 5 minutes then do the same thing all over again.
It has a new plug, good spark, and he cleand the carb and fuel system.
Something seems to be overheating and killing the power, once it cools off it is fine for a few minutes.
Could it be the CDI?

Could be . but not likely. Take along a spare spark plug, and the next time it kills, quickly, unplug the spark plug, and put in the spare, hold that plug against the head, and crank it over. This will confirm whether or not there is spark. It will also rule out compression and fuel, if youre missing spark.
From there, if you know its loosing spark, then id bring along a ohm meter, and the next time it kills, id ohm out the stator. Those stators go thru alot of heat cool cycles, and the expansion and contraction of the copper windings, leads to a small crack in a wire, which leads to an open circuit, when it expands(hot). Ohm check it when cold, so youll know where the connector is, and what the readings should be, and be ready to work quickly, before it cools off enough, and the wire cools and contracts.

it might also be overheating because mice have maybe built a nest under the cover witch is causing it to shut down

No mice or rats nests......think the fuel line had a kink in it. Replaced both lines and it has run fine since. Did this after trying everything alse and completely tearing the trike apart.
And yes IdahoVinnie you would be correct.
