V-Force Reeds For 400 Sport
#1
I just won the bid on a set of V-force Reeds for my 400 sport,it is otherwise stock,my ?? is will I have to rejet for the reeds??I am running too rich right now as it is,so will the reeds make my current jetting right or throw it off further? While I have ur attention, the whole clutch thing confuses the heck out of me,is there a spring I can get for a little more grunt?? I don't want to spend the $$ on a clutch kit at the moment cause I am seriously considering a 500 4x4Scrammy.

Replacing stock reeds with a good cage and carbon fiber reeds will actually make it run a little richer. It makes airflow efficiency better through the carb, which in turn makes a better signal and pulls more fuel. Not alot, but does happen most of the time.
On the clutching, if the 96 has a blue/green primary spring then buy a white polaris primary. If it already has the white primary then buy the purple. That will raise the engagement rpm but not overrev it on top and that will allow it to holeshot better. Hope that helps,Bubba

Yeah, what Bubba said, he's the man along with Rick.
Stick with the 400 it can be a real beast with a few minor mods.

yes,the '96 400 jug is the same as the '99,so the pipe will fit the motor.

are you sure? i have a polaris brand new box with a brand new jug for spare up here and it's written '96 to 03 cylinder is the same, the only new setting i see for new in 98-99 is maybe a timing ignition update and
flywheel but i doubt it...
but to not deny totally what you said, the '95 jug is actually the only
other different cylinder for the 400 as it's a expplorer 400 jug as the same the as the motor, base motor is all the same through the year 400s...

It's not the jug I'm worried about,it's the pipe.I called HotSeat & they said it would fit,I'm still worried though.Their site clearly calls for a differant pipe for the '99. RCR's pipe also changes at '99.I guess I'll buy it & hope for the best unless somebody knows for sure?
