Ok, I was looking at the service manual for my 04.5 sportsman. I wanted to hook up a reverse light.

In the schematic, for the 2004(.0) it shows a purple wire under the hood. I have heard about this, and know that it is either ground or +12v when in reverse.
But on the sch for my 2004.5, there is instead just another orange accessory wire there (always +12v).

My question is for someone with an 05 service manual, could they check for the existence of this wire in the schematic? I looked under the hood but did not see one.

I want to hook up the work lights so they come on in reverse. They are kind of annoying otherwise.

 

It's there, at least on the Scramblers. That's how I hooked up my reverse lights.

 

Was it purple? Or one of the orange ones?

 

on my trail boss 330 its a orange wire that has power when the key turns on then after you turn the key off it has power for 6 seconds then it turns off, i hooked my fog lamps to this wire and its nice because if you leave the fog lights on they automaticly turn off.

 

It was purple. Going to take a pic for ya.

 

I know where those wires are, I am looking for the ones that automatically come on in reverse. I don't think its there on 05's.
