Hey, I recently came across a guy who is selling a 1974 Honda Trail 70. 1400 miles, all orginal minus newer carb and intake, great condition, $1400. Think it's worth it? I used to have one when I was younger before four wheelers were available and let me tell you...that thing was fun ! Two people, street legal, great torque...etc.

Anyway, let me know If you think that price is fair.

 

That's alot, a brand new 50 trail at the dealer is only 1699 CDN.

 

I've seen quite a few of the the older hondas selling for around $1,000. But they were pretty much "restored". So i think the price may be a little high, but not crazy. I'm only 19 and i love riding the old hondas, they're a blast. I would try and talk him down a bit. Good luck.

 

Yeah, I thought it might be a little high, but the bike is highly collectable and it great original condition. It was stored in the garage and never exposed to salty roads or cold weather. If the price was a grand or less I would have bought it already, I guess I'm trying to justify spending that kind of coin on a vintage second hand bike. True, I could buy a crf50, but wouldn't be able to ride it because it's too small, and to make it rideable would be fairly expensive.

I wish I was rich dammit!

 

Oh the new ones just aren't as much fun. They're too small, and the old bikes have the unique factor. Where do you live, because around here (southern cali) there are alot old hondas for sale. My grandpa actually picked up a 50, and two 90's for like 3,000. But they came with all kinds of new carbs, and parts. I picked mine out and cleaned it up to take with me to the desert. Its alot of fun. But they are collectible and if you want it go for it. Good luck.

 

Is it a 3 speed, auto clutch, or the 4 speed manual clutch. The 4 speed is worth much more, for some reason. Ive seen ads for those, that run as high as 4000.
Check out picture 7 in my gallery, ive got a blue 4 speed, with only 400 original miles...everything is original, except the oil, gas and battery. The original tires, even have the nubs still on them. Its in the best shape a person could hope for, it needs nothing and runs flawless. I had it advertized, and had offers of 2400 for it, im still thinking about selling, but id like to see more, seeing how untouched it is.
If its a 4 speed and needs nothing, its worth the 1400. And seeing how youre on hawaii, its doubtful the islands will be getting others, so that in itself raises the price.
They are a lot of fun to drive, and if its street legal there...id go for it.
If you do a google search for honda trail 70, there are lots of sites out there for these old bikes, and youll get a good idea, what they are worth...ive seen some real wrecks go for a grand.
