could be a few things

-kink in chain runs over swingarm and makes a little knock/tap sound as it hits swingarm (which would be consistently just about every revolution of the chain)

-axle bearing are bad and making a random popping/crunching noise

-swingarm bushing where it mounts to frame could be bad causing a clunk on downhill bumps

maybe some more details...

If the chain is on the loose side it could be slapping the wear pad on the top of the swingarm.

I am almost positive it isnt the chain but i will lube that to see of it makes a difference. I want to say that it sounds like the axle berring is bad. That fits the story best right now, How much are new berrings, is it a hard fix to do your self. If its not that then what else could it be?

if it is the chain,,,,lube won't help much

jack up the back end of the quad and rotate the tires,,,,and see how close the chain comes to the swingarm

what will that do though, when you sit on it the chain tightens up anyways because you make the swing are flex up and down. I think its the berrings, it like a little click or a tick sound i here when i give it gas and move alittle bit. How hard is it to replace the berrings. how much are new berrings.

it sounds like you have some broken rollers on the chain. OR your front sprocket could be missing a tooth or two. it wouldnt hurt to remove the chain and give it a good look see on both sides. and also lookat the sprocket condition.

i just went thru this same exact thing a few months ago.

good luck!!!

if it's not your drive sprockets or chain lay your leg against the clutch cover and see if you can feel it there. that's what my tranny chain sounded like when it first started gettin loose before it started to actually jump the sprocket.
