Is it just me or does it seem to be that everytime you roll a scrambler (or any other quad, but i have a scrambler so i notice) the handle bars look bent. I found that out, no matter what if you roll and the hadlebars come in any contact with the ground they look bent. But then i fugured out that its not the handle bars that bend, its what there connected to. That flat piece looks like this > T , a t. Wellthe top part of the T is what bends, i noticed it is pretty flexible. I think polaris should make that piece stronger. I was thinking of cutting that of and putting a 1/8 piece of hardened stell on there. Am i the only one who has noticed this, you gotta notice, exspecially with a scrambler cause it throws everythhing of. I make the light frame look crooked, everything.

 

i dont think i would mess with anything. They might bend for a reason. everytime i wrecked my dirt bike(was alot) they bent. It wasnt exactly the bar bending but where they connect. All i had to do was push them and tighten it back up. I only fliped my fourwheeler 3 times and it did the same thing. i would just leave it or you might actually bend the bar or break them.

 

yea but the more you bend that top flat piece that the bars are connected to back, the weaker it will get. It should be thicker, it should be hardened steel, what they use is real soft i think.

 

I've always driven the bike so the bent bar is facing downhill on a 30 or so degree slope, removed the grip and slid a 4' pipe of larger diam. over the bar. Lift up and the leverage and weight of the bike will bend the bar back easy.

 

om not talking abut the bars bending, its what there connected to.

 

I dont have the picture up yet on my page but i have a picture of the front end of my quad, and u can see that the bars slant down to the right....

Thats because when i tipped my quad in wisconsin not only did i trash my bars but i also bent the crap out of the top of the steering stem(the flat bar that handle bars are connected to) so we just carefully took a vice grips and bent it up wards the best we could...and i was so surprised by how easy it moved!

so then we bent it back a bit and it's never been totally level but i do NOT recommend bending that plate very much, i could see it snapping, i want to invest in a hot seat steering stem but there like 200 bucks and since my quad is still ridleable w/the bent plate i guess i'll just see what happens....

 

i rolled mine once and actually cracked the steering post at the top like you gauys are talking about. it is a weak point i think. so i jsut went ahead and broke the whole thing off and welded a 1/4 inch peice of steel plate on there and its been tough ever since. i have even tipped mine a few times and it hasnt budged.

see this guys useing his head here. I was verryy tmpted to do that to but i never go around to it, i thought i would just bend it back but i no i really outa get in there with the welder and weld a piece of steel on there, all the scrammy owners no what om talkin bout, if you roll you scrammy, and bend that flat piece, it throws everything off, the bars, the headlight mount. Its real annoying to see it crooked to.

I have gone over backwards and bent my stem in the tumble too. Although that was easy enough to bend back, the cage around the head lights was a nightmare. Anybody got an aftermarket or home make better cage?
