Default Front wheel bearings/seals

I put new bearings and seals in. I used AllBalls stuff instead of BRP.

When I tighten the castle nut (not even to factory specs) the wheel does not turn freely.

What could I have done wrong?

Thanks, Al

When I changed mine out I went ahead and powder coated the hubs. Now when I reassembled everything the seals were seating up against the powder coating and that made enough of a change to make the hubs to tight. Just a couple mills of thickness are enough to cause a problem. I had to pull everything back out and clean the coating off. Another thing is if the seals are bent a little bit it will cause the same problem.

No powdercoating here.

Just had them lightened.

Still can't figure it out.

i don't want to take it to the dealer, they'll probably pull the seals and bearings out and make me buy theirs.

Sounds like you will have to go with BRP. I had to damn near take out a personal loan to get mine. But they fit.
I have one here on my desk... part #293350049 The seal # is 293250094
I've got to do mine again and was going to go to this bearing shop close to my shop. Now I am thinking about the subtle differences in manufactures. Hmmm??
I may begin the loan procedure again.

You mean you have the same problem with non stock bearings and seals?

Could it just be the seals?

Did you apply synthetic grease to the wear ring and inside face of axle shaft?
These are the surfaces that rest against the seals. Must be greased.

Sorry, that reads wrong. What I meant was I am going to be replacing one side again. Not due to anything but me hitting a tree! That's another story. I have only used BRP replacement parts for stuff like that.

I think you will be fine with aftermarket bearings, but for the seal you are going to have to go BRP. That is what I did. I could find anything that would match up.

I used the allballs bearing and seals and did not have a problem.

Yea, I used the All ***** also and I did grease the crap out of everything.

I even tried two different kinds of grease.

Amsoil synthetic and the blue Belray stuff..

I am going to recheck the seals and make sure I drove them in all the way. I really think that's where the problem lies and not the bearings.

Thanks, guys.
