sportsman 800 tire upgrades on stock rims
#1
Has anyone gone to a 26x12x12 and 26x9x12 on the stock rims of 800? looking for a different tire and would like to keep the same rims. just wondering what size you can put on the stock rims without wheel spacers or rubbing.

I have a 1999 SP 500. Went from stock tires to goodyear mud runners, although they are the same size tire. Being the type of tires they are. The side walls must be slightly wider than the stock tires because the right side tie rod end rubs just enough that over time this wears out the rubber boot that is around the tie rod end and will pack mudd in the tie rod end which will damage it. But also there is some offset of the tie rod ends. I may have a problem with my front end but can not found a problem. The front end is tight. No noticeable play in the wheel bearings. I have notice this on new models setting on the show room floor.
Try this with yours, check the gap on your tie rod ends between the side wall and the rubber boot of the tie rod ends on both sides. There may be a slight difference. Let me know what you find.
