Default Rancher braking weird

i just got back from a mcdowell county (WV) ride and i was out feeding the deer today and noticed that when i use the front brake it just about throws me off the bike. i mean the brake works too good. i hit the brake and wham it locks the wheel! we went through some creeks and a little mud but nothing to intense (this time). anything going on or are the brakes just a little wet. i did adjust them this evening but it didnt effect the braking only tightened the lever a little
thanks

Thats wierd, because I kind of have the same problem with mine. Some days if I touch the front brakes they would suddenly lock up on me. Then other times my brake would be very weak or just normal. It's kind of on and off like this all the time. I'm not sure why it does this.

I do ride through allot mud and water. Maybe I'm getting water in my brakes, not sure.

I hope you find some asnwers since I have the same problem.

Their hydraulic DRUM brakes. My truck does it in the rainy season too. I guarantee after 5-10 min of use it will go away. It is due to water in the brakes, just not sure how to stop it permanently. But it will go away after use. All I know is it makes it fun for about 10 min of stoppies.

the heat of the brakes will take the water out, but the sand will stay in there and mess with the brakes. The grabby brakes is from the "sand-water" mixture called mud that changes the friction characteristics of the brake shoes. As said before, it will get better as they are used.

sorry, this isn't a car ur brakes are not getting that hot, i pulled the plug on my rear brakes and 4 inches of water came out of them, this was after riding all day on regular trails, believe me water is in there

i have had water and mud in every single brake on the quad, usually caused by a seal or lack of grease, the brakes are not designed to let water in, so when they do it kind of traps it in there, u can't apply car terminology to this, since no car has all the different forms of seals to begin with, and they don't get better i ran over 200 miles on mine and they just got worse and worse, you have to clean them before they get better believe me the problem doesn't go away
