On my 400ex when i pull on my front sprocket the whole countershaft can move in and out a little. Is this normal? If not, what is wrong?

That would depend on "how much" it's moving? Is it just 1mm or 2? or are we talking about 3 to 5mm? If it moves drastically, there is probably a ring / cir-clip in the inside of the case that holds that shaft into place. Or perhaps a worn bearing. If it shows excessive movement only way to find out for sure is to crack the engine casing open.

You could check the dealer's microfiche to see how it's assembled, to give you an idea before tearing anything apart.

Good luck!

It moves 1 or 2 mm. Is the countershaft sopposed to have some play? If you have a 400ex could you see if it is tight or loose? I am wondering if this is normal or is something is wrong with mine.
