what are all the differences between these 2 models (06 models) and which is more suited to what types of riding. Any help would be appreciated

 

what type of riding will you be doing?? the TLD is more suited for woods because of the close gear ratio and then STD is more for like the dunes and things like that....

 

mostly logging roads and dunes, which would win in a drag race in sand or dirt?

 

I have been told there is a lag between 4th and 5th gear in the TLD most shoot outs put the STD as a winner i do belive

 

i just read about the new 06 450r and i think i may be forgetting about the pred lol

yeah i will ive never rode a pred but i have rode a honda 450 and like it a lot

TLD has Close Ratio Tranny, STD has Wide Ratio Tranny
TLD has Fox Podium X piggyback shocks and a Podium X w/ resivior rear, STD has Fox Shocks
TLD has Maxxis Razr tires, i think the STD has Douglas or somethin?
TLD has White plastics, STD has Red

if your considering the 450r for trail riding, i wouldent go for it, a TLD would walk away from a Raptor 660 and beat it in speed times, and the new fox shocks have EXCELLENT ride

 

If you get the standard get the Limited Edition model. You get all the goodies of the TLD with the standard transmission. I like the std better myself but if you ride in tight woods then the tld is better with the short 2nd gear. Remember the 450r doesnt have reverse! Other than that the 450r is great. just put new rims and tires on it because the stocks are cheap. Dollar for dollar you wont get a better quad with more features than the pred.
