Default leaking rear gear oil, and allowing water in

I have a trx300 4x4 and it has been leaking gear oil....luckily I found where it is coming from, but its gonna be a while until I can get it fixed b/c my local shop is booked solid. Whats gone is the seal on the side of the gear case, which is allowing water in the rear gears.....this kind of ruins my plans for friday I guess....anyway, my dad said he didn't think it would hurt to take it fourwheeling as long as I changed the oil before I went, and when I got back, but I was iffy on this...I don't want to make bigger problems....what do you think?

Make sure it never runs dry...
the water can cause major problems if allowed to set...change the hypoid gear oil now and after...water is the enemy

What I was thinking of doing was just changing it tomorrow night, not driving it any more after that, and then change it as soon as i get home on friday.....
