NEW RECON ES
#1
IAM LOOKING FOR A NEW QUAD FOR MY WIFE. THINKING ABOUT EITHER A RECON ES OR A POLARIS TRAILBLAZER. WE RIDE MOSTLY SAND AND A FEW TRAILS. WHATS THE BEST MACHINE FOR ME? I KNOW THE HONDA IS PROBABLY THE MOST DEPENDABLE OF THE TWO. HOW MUCH DISCOUNT CAN I EXPECT ON A NEW 05 OR 06 FROM THE DEALER? THANKS

The Recon is a sweet little machine! Handles great and doesn't have any bad characteristics. Do get an 05 or newer, as it got some updates in that year. Actually does well in the sand, with the stock tires at low pressure. They use to rent them at Pismo, but now they switched to the 250EX. Personally, I would never get the ES option.
If you don't actually need a utility (racks or fenders for mud), I would highly suggest the 250EX instead! It is just a Recon without the racks, so it is 50 hefty pounds lighter, which really helps handling and lighter is always safer. The little lady might appreciate a machine that she doesn't have to muscle as much.

My dealer is running leftover 05 recon manual shift for $2499 and the ES model I think is $200 more, both prices are w/o setup and freight and that usually runs about $300 on the recon. As for the Polaris I don't know.
