Baja lights not working please help :0(
#1
I have a 04 baja X and the two extra lights do not work my main light works high beam and low beam I chased the wires last night and I have power into the switch and out of the switch I even rang out all of the wires and had continuity from the switch with 12 volts coming out of it but no power to the lights it kind of boggles my mind to have continuity from the switch to the lights but when I put power to it I have no power to the connecters to the lights I am thinking it is the cube relay switch on my left side of my light guard but I am not sure has anybody had this problem ?

I know that relays in general are very sensative. From my experiences with these, if any of the terminals are bent it will ruin the relay. My experience has been that the relay gets stuck in the on position. I have gone through about five relays and all of them have had the same problem, terminal gets bent relay stuck in the on position. These were not Bomb relays, I added trail tech lights run off a relay from Kragan. The relays said they were "heavy duty off road" relays, but they were far from heavy duty. Other relays I have used in the past on my jeep have had the same problems. I think there may be a good chance it is your relay. Just a thought.

Sounds like the Relay.
I'm not going to tell you weather or not I've had the problem as there isn't enough wood in my desk to knock on

Check to see if the relay clicks when you turn on your high beams if it does'nt check the fuse on the right side light and see if it is blown, if it is'nt blown check to see if you have power there, if you have power there than I would also say your relay. Hope this helps and good luck. RUSS

FYI,
The power from the switch only goes to the relay not all the way to the lights. If you had continuity between the switch and the lights on one wire, your test was flawed.
This is how it works: The switch sends a low amperage signal to the relay to tell it (the relay) to turn on. The relay is a remote switch so when it gets a signal from the light switch it sets up an magnetic field which pulls a set of contacts closed. These contacts allow a higher amperage flow direct from the battery to the lights. The relay is put in place to prevent the light switch from burning up trying to pass the higher amperage directly to the lights.
Find the comon wire color at the switch and check it at the relay for voltage. Also check for a ground at the relay on the black wire. If you have both a signal from the light switch and a good ground - the relay should "click" when you turn on the light switch. If not, it has failed.
Good luck

I have 12 volts power at the relay and I have a ground at the relay and it is clicking. But I do not get the power to the lights.
This is driving me nuts.
Thanks for your help.
