Grizzler CV Joint
#1
I ripped a boot on my Grizzly and now the outer CV joint is popping. I have taken the axle off the quad and now I am trying to decide what to do as far as fixing the problem.
The Yamaha dealer wants $275 for a new CV joint. THAT IS CRAZY!!! I found a guy that sells CV joints on Ebay, his Ebay name is cvman. I have heard some good things about his work so I am thinking about buying one from him.
Has anyone on here ever purchased anything from this guy? If so were you happy with the product?
My next question: I don't have a lot of experience working on quads and I can't figure out how the hell the axle comes out of the CV Joint. The axle has a spline that goes right into the middle of the CV but it won't budge. Is it pressed in or is there some secret to getting the axle out that I don't know about?

CVman helped me out wuite a bit when I was having problems with mine. I would recommend him. There is a small inner ring clamp. It's a small round wire that goes around just inside the CV bearings. Take that out with a small flatblade screwdriver and the whole thing should slide off. Good luck.

Hey cv man I just pop'd by this site while doing a search for cv joints off yahoo. I saw some people selling cv joints for grizzly's on e-bay but couldn't seem to find your name......(this was after I had looked at e-bay and then saw this thread) I went back to find your sale but couldn't find it. I was wondering how much you sell cv joints for '05 Grizz. as I have had a simmilar problem.
Axle was fine but while ridding I just suddenly had the rear end get real lose and then only one wheel engaging. When we got to the top of the mt. I discovered the cv joint had come lose from the diff. we tipped it up on edge and slide it back in only to find it slip right back out as we were limping her back to the house. needless to say the very end of the tines on the cv joint were spun off and no lock ring in there. (hence the slippage) So now I'm in the market . The Diff seems to be ok, tines in there are still solid but somehow I need to clean it out a little as there are some metal shavings from the cv joint in there now. (if anyone has a suggestion on that would be great) Other than that It seams like a real easy job. Just pack it full of grease put the snap ring on there and slide her in and clamp the new boot.
I assume your kits come with a new boot and clamps since thats pritty much the only way to change them, and all the other finds on e-bay show joint and boot. Now I'm shoping around hopefully you can help me out. thanks.
I just found this forum today and signed up so I'm a little new as to how this site works but I'll figure it out lol. Thanks.
