Default jumping speedometer

hey how ya'll doing just wanted to ask if any of ya'll had this happen. i have a sportsman 400 2004.5 a few days ago my battery died when i turned the key to start the gauge came on but when the key went to start it went blank. well i got home and put a new battery on it cranks fine and runs fine but when its setting just idling the speedometer needle just up to say 10 mph and drops down it does it regularly, it didn't do this before the battery died. i checked the sensor it not loose. i notice that after i put new battery in that my idle was way down from what it was i warmed it up and idle was around 850 rpms so i ajusted it to 1050 rpm. seems ok
