Twist throttle

I have a twist on my 400 ex, (i dont like it) and it is very veery stiff. how do i free this up? where can i find a cheap thumb throttle (i keep seeing them tor about $115, and i dont want to pay that much)?

Make sure that the cable isnt bound up anywhere. There are cable lubes out there for cheap, try some. Motion pro or terrycable can probably make you a new cable for under 20 bucks. You should also check to see if the throttle tube is sticking on the handlebars.

Not unless you have an atv salvage yard nearby or a swap meet. Dealers will charge obscene prices and aftermarket offerings are about the same price. Your only other option is hope someone on an internet forum sells one.

www.rockymountainatv.com has them fo about 40 bucks, they list it as a motion pro twist throttle if that helps fo rwut you are lookin for.

If you lube your cable, use a lube with teflon in it. When I was a bicycle mechanic that's what we used to lube bike cables. WD-40 is ok but will evaporate in the long run, while the teflon will keep on lubricating. You will need to remove the cable and allow the lube to run down into the housing to get full length lubrication.
