Question about Honda 300 starter
#1
My starter quit working. I checked and its only getting 8 volts to the starter relay. I replaced the starter with a new one and it still won't work. Is it possible the starter diode could be cutting the voltage. I tested the relay by jumping from the batterey with a wire and it worked. If anyone has any clues what could be wrong with it please let me know.

If youre only getting 8 volts, id say the battery or the connections are to blame.
Try jump starting from a known good battery. If youre using a car or truck to jump from, make sure the motor isnt running, the reason being...the car and truck alternators can put out a higher voltage than the quad will like, but if the motor is off, then it will only have battery voltage of 12.5 or so.
The diode's only purpose is to shunt the flyback voltage, to ground. It can be in or out, or shorted...it wont be noticeable to the rider, just to the ecu.
