#1
went on a trip last weekend and my engine overheated and i noticed my fan wasnt running. im not sure if it was due to the front end being submerged in a swamp , well ive gotten the front cab off and the fan out, the fan runs if i hook it up to a battery so i know the motor isnt fried.. were else should i look? any help would be appreciated thanks

Wow, you went through a lot of trouble just to hot-wire the fan.
That’s a pretty simple system. You have electricity, a thermo fan switch and the fan. If the fan works on the bench but not on the bike it’s not getting electricity. Could be a broken ground wire or an open circuit on the hot side. The thermo fan switch should complete (close) the circuit at a specific temperature (190 F, fan turns on) and open the circuit (interrupt the current) at a specific temperature (180 F, fan turns off). Make sure the wires are hooked up to your thermo fan switch (on the left side of the cylinder head below the thermostat cover) and make sure there’s power to the switch. If there’s power to the switch and continuity between the switch and the fan then you have a bad fan switch.

If the thermo fan switch is dead, you might consider after market switches that runs cooler. Cooler engine gives a little better performance.
Don't know if it exists for Polaris, but it is commonly used on cars.
