Could it be that upon the eve of the long anticipated demise of the beloved Banshee that Yamaha could be concocting a 700efi Raptor to ease the pain, and give the Raptor faithful leg up on the other big bore competition??? One could only hope, and hope springs eternal....

The Phantom.....has seen new things........

If it is still five feet tall and two feet wide like the current Raptor, you couldn't go any faster on it anyway. Now if they give it chassis geometry more like a YFZ, with that 700 EFI motor, we might have a winner. And speaking about tall skinny Raptors, I got to see one roll over frontwards on a bad downhill at a desert race this weekend. I couldn't help but think to myself that those Raptors roll pretty darn good, being as they are the same height, width, and length, more or less, so they roll kind of like a big round ball.

EFI has allready been done. KMS sells the complete kit. Besides a properly adjusted carb runs just as well as EFI.

That may be true, but it 1) Would be nice to have it be a factory item considering the day and age we live in and 2)A properly tuned carb will get you close, but a properly executed efi will be more consistant and in the case of say the DS 650 packs an 8hp gain over the carb. I was just passing along info gleaned from a discussion I overheard near a blue tractor trailer....

The Phantom.....providing information for 5 minutes....

So who builds EFI for quads anyway? Did Suzuki and Polaris do it themselves, or outsource? With the Raptors two carb setup, how much would the intake have to be changed?

Over what, the stock carb? Try putting a larger lectron on there and then compare hp output...

The raptor engine already has EFI on the bike, I'd see that happening before a displacement bump. It would have to be an entirely new engine to be commercially viable.
