2001 250ex or 89 blaster what should i buy
#1
a friend of mine is selling a 2001 250ex for about 1200 and it has brand new razr tires on it and a pipe. and i found a 89 blaster for sale with a few extra sets of tires and an extra swingarm and has the 240 kit and an aftermarket pipe. for 650
well my question for you guys is which one should i buy their both in great shape.
im going to be doing some pretty steep hillclimbs and if i cant make it up its going to be a problem my friends blaster and my friends 300 ex both make it up them fine. also im going to need something to go over some pretty rough terrian and jump and another thing is i want to be able to keep up with my friends quads a 2001 blaster with a pipe and a 97 300 ex stock and be able to do everything they can i can ride good. reliability is also an option my friends blaster breaks every other day but its quick and fun buts bumpy in the woods.
what do you think i should get.
im 17 and 130 pounds 5'8
thanks

well the 250ex wont have the power of the blaster, but it seems like it should handle your weight fine. i would prolly buy the blaster and do a total rebuild on it. l dont know how much a rebuild would cost for it though so it might be better to buy the 250 for the price. but id buy the blaster

I would have bought a blaster for $650.00 and im not even looking for a quad. I think you made a good choice and saved some money too.

89 Blaster = horrible suspension and the worst brakes on earth not to mention 300 other things i could critique about.
also your 17 maybe due for a growth spirt and i know when i ride the blaster my knees hit the bars when i turn, your 5'8 so would be ok now, anyways
years ago i had a 93 blaster and hated it to death i sold it for a new 96 300ex
I'm also not a fan of 2 strokes and my opion on this is very bias so i'm not the best person to reply, the only thing the blaster has going for it is that there cheap which also = crap lol good luck man

if u do get that blaster get a rear hydro brake kit. blasterzone.com is wehre i would go for that. for 650 u could 550 into it and still be at the same price as the 250ex and have a much better bike than the 250.
