Default New member - SP500HO EFI LE questions

Just joined the site after doing some extensive reading throughout the forums. I have an 05 500HO EFI LE that is bone stock from the dealer. I was curious what suggestions there are for performance upgrade for this model. I've searched through the forums and haven't found much as far as performance enhancements.

Thanks in advance..

First thing I would do is put some good tires under it. All the power in the world won't do you a bit of good with no traction. With it being a new 500EFI I would wait a bit. Not much out there, for info and parts yet. To new

I may be mistaken, but could've sworn it was an EFI model. I'm new to these ATV things.. LOL.. Here is a pic of it.

Tires - It's currently got 26's on it now. Once those wear out, I'll be upgrading it to 27's..

Get you a Heelclicker clutch kit for that thang! You can buy it directly from www.heelclicker.com or I would suggest buying it from Cob at www.atvquadsquad.com . With the cob discount you'll save about $30.00 . It is very very easy to install and will give you the most for the cheapest!!!!!!!

Sure, there's alot more you can do, however, $$$ is the question. How much do you want to spend. The heelclicker is going to give you the most for the least. Also, you are limited to what you can until your warranty goes out. Drop you a K&N air filter and a Heelclicker kit in it and you'll have a new machine. The heelclicker is tunable where other clutch kit's aren't. You can also take it out and put it in a 600, 700, and 800 if you ever upgrade, where the other clutch kits are designed for one specific model. The kit will give you 10 to 15 % more power in lowend and midrange. Do NOT be persuaded by the other kits! I have tried several including, EPI and Dalton before I tried the HEELCLICKER. For Polaris machines heelclicker is absolutely the best!!!

I'm just looking for the bolt on's. The bike is still too new for me to be doing any major enhancements. Are there any jetting changes that need to be done after the K&N? I've also heard the stock Polaris exhaust is very restrictive and I should look at doing an aftermarket exhaust for it. Since I do some rough terrain riding which includes some mudding, I'd like to find something that isn't just open to the elements. Similar to how the stock exhaust is designed.

I also had the belt replaced by the dealer only after 2 month's of owning it. It began to slip. I was told by the dealer at that time that I have 2 remaining lifetime replacements. Is this somehting that is going to continue to happen? I was pretty discouraged that it had to be replaced so soon. Is there an aftermarket belt that is better for the long run?

Thanks for the help. Hope to be ordering the heelclicker and K&N soon.

No, you just slap a k&n air filter in it and ride on. Aftermarket exhaust, well I think it's pricey for no more performance gain than it gives. You'll see more performance gain from the heelclicker than anything bolt on. Also the heelclickers design is to help with belt slippage, which is the primary cause of belt wear. Email Dan at heelclicker. His address can be found on the heelclicker website. Better yet become a member at www.atvquadsquad.com . These guys are polaris gurues and will answer anything you can throw at them.
