Pros/Cons - 27" tire on Grizz 660
#1
My Brother in Law is looking for new tires for his Grizz.. We began doing some research after seeing a grizz with 27" Mud Lites. From the looking I've done, I've gotten kind of mixed reviews. Some say the 27" work good and the performance loss in minimal. Some I've read say that this shouldn't even be considered unless a clutch swap is performed.
Right now he's trying to decide between the Mud Lites and the 589's. He's planning to get new wheels with the tires and keep his stockers for the light work..Biggest decision being faced is to go with 26's or 27's...
Opinions/Thoughts??
Thanks in advance..

I use 27" 589's on ITP C-Series wheels in winter, 26" Dirt Devils on C-Series wheels the rest of the time. Other than the tires / wheels my '02 Grizzly is stock. I do not have performance issues with the 27" tires but then again I'm not trying to race anything either. If maximum acceleration is important, than going to a larger tire than stock will have an effect on it and will slow you down some. For general purpose use the larger tires are fine. However when traveling at speed and when the rear suspension is compressed significantly, the larger tires will rub the lower part of the fenders. I do not have that problem with the 26" tires.
The reason I switch to the taller tires in winter is for improved traction and for a little extra ground clearance, handy for going through deep snow or for snow plowing. They are better for deep mud situations too but I don't do a lot of that...

OK, I think he has decided to go with the 27" ITP Mud Lites instead 589's. In the 27's, these only come in 10 and 12" width's. Anyone know if this will fit ok??
