Is your MXZ carbed or EFI?
If its carbed, you can do filters instead of the air box. You can also get an exhaust for it, but if its EFI, you'll need to re-flash your EFI or get an EFI controller to change your injection mapping. I agree with shmee, clutching is important. What RPM it engages and how well it holds the RPM in the power band through shifting is also important. Tuning is important too. THere are a number of new 02 sensors that will help you determine if your air/fuel mixture is correct. The a lot of the snowmobile guys use is this one from Innovate motorsports - which also works really good for quads too ...

The 600has lots of potential. Porting, pipe, compression, man lots off things that can do well on that machine. You just need to determine how much you want to spend. Making your machine run 8300rpm when its power is at 8100 rpm will do nothing but steal power. Clutching will do alot, but if you want more, tear into her. I hear rumor Dave Trigstad is getting 157hp out of the 06' 600 mod motors Now hows that for a few more ponys?

Open up the air box, leave the pipe it's self and change the muffler to a can, jet proper, shave the head, port and polish the motor, loose as much weight as you can, black ice jet kit, and enjoy
