.

Welcome to this forum....

What weight, height and age of your son? What previous riding experience? re: Knows how to shift and ground speed or this is their first youth ATV?

What's your young rider's driving style on the throttle control? For example, some love fast throttle response of a 2 stroke and others love the much more comfortable throttle control of a 4 stroke? For 1st time riders, many like the 4 strokes gradual (and steady) throttle climb. Especially when trying to climb a steep hill when starting at its very bottom.

What riding conditions is your passion? For example, bush, swamps, deep soft sand, powder snow, flat track racing with high speed cornerning? etc. etc.

By us obtaining a better understanding of its driver and expecting riding conditions, we'll be able to provide more focused recommendations.

thanks.

and i ask you why are you looking at getting a small bike for a big kid? with his size it is safer to put him on a bike that fit his frame better ie; 400's and so forth.

You can always restrict the throttle movement until he learns how to handle the bike and then slowly keep adding throttle until he has it all. This is gonna get me in trouble but you would be better off getting him one of the other brand 250's which are bigger than AC. A 400 is an awlful lot of engine for a beginner.

He's a big kid and I figured I can always trade up later. Just bought the 06 honda 250trx. hope I made the right call. they offered incentives and discounts I couldn't pass up. thanks for your help . This seems like a pretty informational site, I guess I should check back for other helpful hints about the sport.
