How do I know when its time?

Default How do I konw when its time?

Hey guys. I have a 2004 DS 650 Baja. How will I know when its time to do a valve adjustment ?

you want to check the adjustment at a regular interval. check them after a 50 hour break-in, then at least once a year thereafter, if not more often. I check mine every 6 months, or every 200-300 hours of motor time. it is easy to check, you simply remove the head cover, park the piston at top dead center of compression stroke, and slip a feeler in each gap to measure. if the gap is out of spec then adjustment is needed. shop manual is a good resource, or do a post search and find many instructions.

valve gap diminishes over time, and ultimately if the gap is totally gone then the valve is no longer fully seating. adjustment is critical.

how do i know when it is on its compression stroke.sorry guys im just getting into this stuff i need help
