2001 Rancher 4x4 ES
#1
I was on here the other day asking how to align my Rancher thinking that might be why the right tire was leaning a little bit to the right but it wasn't... I started wiggling and moving the tire around and on the top a-arm mount in the back there was a big crack all the way around it... We called the dealer and he said to bring it in Monday and they will take a look at it... This is the 2nd thing that has happened to my Rancher and both has been recalls. I'm a little disappointed in it to tell you the truth. I'm thinking about getting rid of the Rancher and getting a 2001 400ex since my friends have all started riding dirtbikes and one of my friends got a brand new 2001 Cr250 yesterday. It is not much fun riding a 4x4 with dirtbikes...

Hum,....... I am aware of the a-arm recall but what is the other recall that you have had. I also have a 2001 Rancher 4x4 and have not had a problem, and I feel that the vast majority of Hondas are trouble free, but anytime any new model is produced you can expect some minor bugs in the first couple of production years, and that is true with any brand.

well, don't be so hasty there Ron, I bought a 2001 Rancher 4x4 ES (orange) on sept 23, 2000.
acording to the honda rep, its serial # is in the targeted recall range,I was called again today by the rep and told its ok to ride for now, the brackets for the a-arm update should be in stock in late Dec, but to cease riding it if i started having problems steering, as that would indicate the frame "tearing from stress."

I have a 2000 model Rancher, the only recall that I have heard off is the A-arm bracket. This was confirmed by the dealer.
Honestly can say 752 miles the only problem so far is one rivet popped out, but it was easily replaced. No shifting problems, but then I don't power shift. Added dielectric grease to the two sensors to keep water out. Otherwise, no problems with my Rancher.

The other problem was the Electric Shift went out on me i don't think it was a recall but the dealer did mention it once. anyways I did not have to pay them anything...
I took the rancher to the dealer yesterday and they looked at it and said they would have to replace the frame since the frame was cracked, they already ordered the frame they said it will be fixed in about 2-3 weeks... I think I will be getting rid of the Rancher I just have not had any luck with 4-wheelers at all maybe it's time to switch to dirtbikes...
