Default Meerkat/kmx 50cc how are they holding up?

Anyone that has a meerkat or kmx50 how are they holding up? I just bought one for my youngest son and I see some improvements on the newer ones like the intake problems. The carb does not hit the frame anymore. I hear that they are pretty tough machines so I want to know. Also do you keep it in a certain gear if so which one and does it still pull good?

Bought my sons about 8 months ago and still runs good although hes outgrowing it now.Only problem we have had is having to constantly adjust the carb screw because of low idle/stalling but its a easy fix.Never had problem with the intake manifold cracking (knock on wood)and the little quad impresses me in the mud.The only problem I have with the quad is the lack of front brakes but it taught him how to control fishtailing downhill pretty good.As for gearing,my son like to shift and can ride pretty good so i have taken off all the safetys and he will get to about third gear.uphill, first is his favorite and the quad has enough power for most hills even in the mud.

My son got his at Christmas and so far it has done very well in the sand an mud. He is still learning so I usually leave it in 1st or 2nd gear. This little machine amazes me that it can move my large *** around. I have taken it for a little spin around the block and it does very well considering I am 280. The only thing I have had to do is tighten the chain after the first couple rides, oiled the air filter (since it was dry out of the box) and adjusted the idle. I am going to add 5" spacers to front to add a little more stability. Has anyone else added spacers? And if so did you add them to front and back or just front?

work2play, where you getting spacers for your 50? I would like to add 2-3" total front and rear, but can't find any spacers.

I am getting them off e-bay. There are a couple different people selling them. just do a search on "kazuma wheel spacers".

I bought one for my son christmas 04.held up real good until this christmas ,the intake tube broke.he has ridden the wheels off of it.i have a raptor 660 and he goes where i go. no problems until sat,we have a mx track, and he broke the rear shock. he only weights 40lbs,but can ride! other than that it's good quad. for the money, it's a good starter. bought the intake from racewayatv.com they had them built. better than stock.

I was out last weekend and had a problem with my sons quad where it seem to keep flooding even though the choked was turned off. after and hour or so of troubleshooting and 30 min to take off all of the plastics and fuels tank I found that the choke plate in the carburator had fallen off the lever and was always in the choke position therefore causing the engine to load up. The fix was easy enough, I just snapped the choke plate back to the lever and tightened it down. Now I just hope that it does not come off again. If it happens again I will probably just take the choke plate out.
