Default Winch Amps

Anybody have any idea of how many amps the electrical system can produce? I was buried over the weekend and only wish i had a winch. Bought a new winch today...but, I am unsure of what damage, if any, I many inflict on the quad once the winch is mounted and in use.

Thanks,

There should be instructions that come with the winch. Most have an inline fuse, which will protect the circuit from excessive current.
When you use the winch, youll wantr the motor running if posible. The battery wont last long, if the stator isnt running. The stator also relies on rpms, to give the full rated output. At idle , most stators barely cover the load of the headlights, so having the motor at slightly higher rpm, and all lights off, is about all the quad can put out.
There should be directions also, on how long you can continuously run the winch. They develope alot of heat, and can harm them selves if they get too hot. Some only let you pull for about 15 seconds, before needing a rest period to cool down.
There should be a spec for your quad, saying the stator output. Its usually in watts. Divide that number by 14 volts, and youll get the max amps, it can produce ...and thats usually at around 5000rpms.
