Today I while riding in the moutains in 6 to 8 inches of snow, my friend spun out on his 1991 350 trailboss 4x4. We looked and one front wheel was spinning the other wasen't. He has a broken wire going to the hub for the second time this summer. I went past him and soon I spun out on my 1989 250 trailboss 4x4, I discovered that I have the same problem with a broken wire on mine too for the second time this summer. Why did Polaris use such small wire going to the hubs? Has anybody replaced the small wire with a bigger wire? I am sure with the age of our 4 wheelers the wires are not as flexable as they once were. Also has anybody had trouble with moisture causing bad conections with the switches under the shift lever? I had trouble with that today too and sometimes the 4x4 wouldn't work at all. I replaced the switches a few weeks ago, maybe the moisture is in the plugin on the wire, any tips on sealing the moisture out?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't know what to tell you about the wires tearing. Maybe you could get some reinforced wire somewhere. I can help you with the problem of moisture in the switch connections, though. It is called dielectric grease. It is a special grease for protecting electrical connections and contacts from moisture. It can be found in Radio Shack and most auto parts stores. Put it on any connection where you fear moisture or corrosion.
