Default Tuning with wide band o2 sensor?

Anyone ever try tuning with a oxygen sensor?

With the advent of the wide band o2 sensors and resergence of high performance 4 stroke motors, this seems like a much better way to get the bike dialed in. At least better for thoes of us that have not mastered the art of plug reading.

Any thoughts on the subject?

I am also thinking about this and have my eye on some o2 sensors for my ds.... just not sure if i wanna spend all the money on one while not many people on here use them to give reviews on the subject....some even come with rpm readouts that will tell you after your done riding where you are lean and where you are rich...

Due to Nos being my next purchase, I am going to pick one up to be sure my air/fuel is always correct. $300 now, or a whole lot more later...

Rumor had it, on-dunes is going to, but not sure. Other then that, I just google search Air/Fuel ration and find a few different choices out there.

I have a LM-1 from Innovate Motorsports, It will also give you data on rpm. You can download it to your laptop and overlay different engine pull graphs and compare the difference one change to the the motor makes. Also you can compare the time it takes to get to a certain rpm point and that is a way can tell you if you are making power gains. It is a good unit and works well, and the next best thing to a dyno.

Innovative has some cool stuff. I first got the idea looking at the LM-1 kit with RPM pickup. That would be the next best thing to a dyno. Or maybe better in some respect, get real world data. But you are talking $400-$500 for the setup.

Recently I saw Innovate has a new product out the LC-1 out. Granted, it has less functionality (it just controls the wbo2 sensor) but it costs quite a bit less. Add an external display and you have a real time way of seeing how you’re running. Dynotune already has a kit like this for $275 (http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...?idproduct=150)

My concerns:
1. Durability. These are all automotive items. My bike takes way more abuse than a care. Not to mention, wet or muddy conditions. How will they hold up. that's a lot of dough to have break right away. And something tells me "ATV" will void most any warrantee.

2. It seems too simple -> buy the kit, plug it in, and you are good to go. Thought I must be missing something.

Courtney,

The Innovate item is made for the motorsports industry. There's a pretty good write up in the Snow West Magazine Volume 33, No. 1 . Very durable gauge, very accurate, You're not missing anything.
