ATTN RCR & Xplorer owners
#1
It seems to me that there are quite a few Xplorer owners out there that would like the hp gains that come with adding a pipe, except that all the ones out there are to loud for most of us.I realize that restricting exhaust flow you will decrease hps. What I would like to see is a pipe only, that would use the stock muffler. If it would have a 4-5 hp increase I think that would be enough. Rick would supply an adaptor slip-on fitting along with the pipe which you, or the local muffler shop would weld to the original muffler.
PS If we get enough explorer/scrambler/sport owners to answer positively to this thread, he just may make it.

Snowride, That is a great idea except that the stock system is a one piece! If you are looking for decent hp gains with very little noise increase check out Dynoport. There pipe is almost as quiet as stock in the spark arrestor form and makes for a real good increase in power. I believe they claim8-10 hp. The only thing I don't like about mine is it is 3" longer than stock.

Great idea. I would be interested so long as it wouldn't add any noise. I think the Xplorer pipe is one-piece, but that is what they make hacksaws for. Or for the technically challenged, maybe you could ship a complete pipe out, and you send you old one back (if you like it). That way you could try it out & if it is too loud, you could always go back to the old one.

What I Mean't to say in my previous post, is the pipe would be cut off from the original muffler and then a slip-on adaptor would be welded to the muffler. Now the pipe can be inserted and tighened up.
Rick!!! if what I am suggesting, can not be done, please respond. Otherwise I think this thread will get very long.
Thanks

I had my exaust off about 2wks ago. It is 2 pieces. A manifold that curves around and comes a little short of the shifter, and the remainder of the pipe.
$ would also be of a concern as I live in Canada and you can generally double all american prices.

Good idea man. I have a hpd pipe and at first i loved the sound, but now it seems like it is getting even louder. It is so loud you have to yell to talk to someone when you talk to them. It did make a big difference in power but I don't know if it is worth all of the noise. It would be an excellent idea if you could use the stock headpipe.
