seal your NOS button or blow your motor
#1
I was racing this weekend at gordon's wells sand dunes against some banshee's, raptors, yfz, and crf's and was doing great until I flew over the top of the dune and went to turn around and my bike sounded like a diesel I immediatly turned off my motor and to my horror could hear my nitrose still on full.
What happened was that sand had got in the button and it was stuck on full I disarmed my system and let the bike cool down but when I went to start it I could tell my motor is shot. It spews out smoke like a diesel now so I know my rings are gone and who knows what else I will tear her down and find out. So if anybody else is using the button I would make sure that you have a sealed one or one that does not have any kind of ring around it where sand or dirt can stick your switch It is a expensive mistake.

Oh now that sucks as bad as my problem. Now my idea of putting the switch inside the throttle housing really sounds good. What Nos system are you using? I have often thought that could happen. My switch isnt sealed either.

I am running the wet NOS system from NOS it puts out great power but it is hell on the motor when the button sticks . I think I am going to rewire it in a series where it can only come on if the button is pushed and the throttle is in the full throttle position. This should help but now I am going to wory about my fuel cylinoid going out on me or maybe my fuel pump and frying another motor?
Pretty Scary. Maybe I will go all motor and sell all my nitrouse stuff ?

I like your idea of in series.
Have a button or switch on the bars and then a micro-switch on the throttle. . . both need to make for the Nitrous to fire.
Would an EGT give you quick enough indication?
Maybe better yet a pressure switch on the fuel line to shut her down if you don't have sufficient fuel pressure?

I always ran the 2 button system with no problems. One was tied into the thumb throttle (Had to be full throttle) and the other had to be depressed with your left thumb for the system to work.
