I just acquired a very sad '88 FourTrax 350 4x4. Until I can purchase a service manual, I have a few questions.
[1] Is it always in four-wheel drive, or is there a provision for disconnecting the front drive?
[2] Are all four tires supposed to be the same size?
[3] Does it have a reverse gear?

1)Yes, it is always in 4wd. 2)All 4 tires are the same size -- 24x9x11. 3)Yes there is reverse. I'm pretty sure those have a reverse lite on the dash along w/ a neutral lite. Also look near the left hand brake, there should be a red button w/ an R on it. Push the button, pull in the brake, and downshift from neutral, you should be in reverse.

The dash is missing and most of the wiring has been pulled out so I am in a real steep learning curve on this quad.
Am I correct in thinking that there is a solenoid in the transmission that pulls a reversing gear into the first gear position?
