how do you get to the brakes? is it hard?

depends on his front or back back are drums front are disk on a rancher.

 

Only the 2004-2005 AT's have the disks I think (without checking). Prior like most cheap a__ Hondas they had drums. My 02 has drums. IMO a disk should last a lot longer than 2 years.

 

my 00 rancher has drums on front and drums on back. You might need to adjust the pads on fron if you take out the red plug put bike up so you can rotate all 4 tires and move the little bolt type thing with a screw driver doing both front tires then test see how the brakes are. Also my front are still good were i replaced my drums in back already but my bike is 6 years old and has 2000 miles on it. i did some research and 05 06 rancher 4x4 es has drums all around. Just front are controled by fluid and back are cable.
