Odd clutch problem terra pro
#1
I am looking at a used Yamaha terra pro but it has a very strange problem. Without pulling the clutch lever you can put it into gear. When you pull in on the clutch lever, then it starts to move. It's almost like the clutch is working in reverse. Any ideas?

I have not bought the atv yet, it is at a tractor dealer (who knows nothing about atv's) - he got it as a partial trade-in. It has been sitting for around 7 months at the dealer. He thought it worked OK when he took it in trade, but he could not be sure. With it sitting at idol, you do not have to pull the clutch lever to put it in gear - it just does not move. Then pull on the clutch lever and it starts to move. It is not fully engage because it doesn't just jump off the start. It is just acting the reverse as it should. I should have to pull in on the clutch lever, put it in gear, release the clutch lever, and take off. It has been a few years since I tore down a clutch on a motorcycle, but this is just not right.

The only thing I can think of is maybe if someone tried to repair the clutch and assembled it wrong, or if something broke apart in the clutch. I don't know much about these terra pro things though, to be honest I never even heard of it before.
