150 Carb / Auto choke question
#1
Hi all,
New to the forum but have been reading it a bit. I just bought Two used 150s (2005 brand unknown) front suspension only has one a-arm per side, small yellow adjustable shocks, non-adjustable rear shock mounted straight up, rubber running board for foot rest. Anyone have any ideas as to brand? One seems to run ok, the other will idle, but wants to bog and die when throttle is opened even slightly and slowly. I have taken carb apart and cleaned it twice, same condition. I then swithched carbs from the other quad and it seems to run ok with a very slight bog if you try to open throttle all at once. Carb seems to be problem. Might anyone have any Ideas? I have read a lot of posts on the auto choke. Can anyone tell me, is choke on or off when solenoid needle is down. Is there anyway to just not use the choke at all. And lastly when I switched to the good carb that seems to run ok, what needs to be done so throttle may be opened up quickly all at once. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum TopFuel500, I have had very good luck with the auto choke carb on my wifes '04 Yamoto 150. I am one of the few from what I have read here. My only suggestion would be to check the valve adjustment and replace the stock spark plug with a NGK C7HSA. It has been so long since i was in that carb I cant remember to answer your solenoid question. Sorry about that.

Welcome topfuel500, Can't say as to the brand of atv but it sounds like you might have the same problem that I had with a carb. If this is a vacuum operated diaphram type (throttle connects to cam on side of carb.) as opposed to a mechanical diaphram type (cable connects to top of carb.) then try removing the hose between the air filter and the carb. and while slowly increasing throttle, stick your finger in side the rear of the carb. and slowly raise the disphram. This will raise the needle and if rpm's increase you probably have a hole in your diaphram.

Thank you for the Three replies so far, and the welcome, the carb slide is vaccum operated. I will look at the diaphram, any idea where to get another? When I get these sorted out I will let you know what I find.
