89 quadsport 250 swinger bearings replacement
#1
I need to replace the swing arm bearings in my lt 250s. I ordered the all ***** kit off of ebay. It shoudl be in soon, but in the meantime i want to disassemble the bike.
I am not doing carrier bearings, so i see no need to remove the axle, and as it look, i can disconnect the chain and caliper, and remove the whole rear axle/carrier/tires/ect out of the swinger.
Then i just need to take the shock off, and the swinger should come right off.
My main question is how to get the bearings out of the swing arm. Can i beat them out from one side? Like put a socket thats the same size of the bearing, and beat it with a hammer/extension to push the opposite bearing out of the swing arm? Then just reverse it and get the other one out? In my clymer manual it says to take the swinger to a dealer to have the old bearings pressed out and the new ones pressed in. I am selling the quad and i am not tryign to spend a fortune on it, because im sellign it for 1100 bucks. Also, Are there any little shoulders to stop the bearings once it is fully seated in teh correct place? Do you guys get what im saying?
If anyoen can help me out, id appreciate it.
THanks,
Mike
