Just bought an well used 87 id like to know what breaks on these, what matenace needs done to them / what i parts i should check foe wear , and posibly what upgrades / modifications to make
first of this isn't going to be raced (maybe after he gets a little time on it he can go to the local track) for know it will be a trailrider please keep this in mind when sugesting up grades
i have till july (my son's birthday) to get this back up running and looking like good. it starts and runs good blows a little smoke i asume this is normal of a 2 stroke. I've never had a cvt eather should it feel like one long gear and go about 20 mph with the engine reve'd up

-new batery
-front and rear wheel bearing
-oil and air filters(of course)
-new front tires posibly new rears
-front brake cables(im going to try and get the ones i have broke free)

I getting ready to run out the door, so I'll shoot from the hip really quick. Might miss a couple things I'm sure.
But if you do a search on here for LT80 you will find a lot of info, you'll read a lot, but worth it.
Go ahead and change the oil. It only takes about 80cc of oil. You can find info on where/how.
Pull front clutch off, clean and regrease. Take 2 rollers out.
Pull carb and clean. Re-jet to either a 87.5 or 90 main jet. Try needle clip in #1 or #2 position.
Get a Uni air filter
New plug
DC the oil injection, run 32:1 premix
Grease the front end and rear axle housing
Check the brakes
If you want to widen it out to make it more stable, there are a few options.
Anywhere from under $10 to $150 or so. You'll find plenty of info on here.
good Luck, goota run
