BF750 Advice on repairs, wrecked it BAD
#1
I took my first trip up into PA to ring out my BF750 and boy did I ever ring it out! Was having a blast until I came up over a mound 20 feet short of the top of a good sized coal hill climb. The Brute rolled all the way back down with some extensive damage. I think the frame is still good and it still starts and everything electric works. It did pull a rear axle out of the side of the rear diff, I'm not sure if that hurt the diff or not. Hopefully it will just slip back in after I replace the busted control arms and such.
Here's my question: I have to replace all the control arms (front and rear), tie rods, the two rear "hubs" that the control arms attach to at the wheel. Looks like a front shock is busted too. That's just what I can see without dismantling it yet. Then of course theres some body parts. I'm not real familiar with what aftermarket stuff would be useful or should I just go back stock? I really enjoyed riding up there and will be doing a lot more of it once I get the Brute back together. I know original Kawasaki parts aint cheap and was thinking maybe my money might be better spent on some hop up stuff...any guidance there???
Thanks and God bless,

Glad to hear you are ok. I would get aftermarket tierods and ends the stock ones are weak. The shocks are the only other after market suspension parts I know of. You might want to check out ebay for someone parting one out you might get lucky. Maybe Maier for plastic it should be cheaper.

I did find somoeone parting one out on eBay, they list many of the parts I need. Just a matter of coming up with the coin to get it before the auctions end. I looked at Maier and it seems they don't make anything for the Brute, just the Prairie. Thanks for the guidance on the tie rods though, and I agree. I bent the right one early in the day and bashed it back straight (or so) with a rock and was surprised how easy it was to bend. Who makes good ones for the Brute?

Some parts are designed to bend as a sacrificial part, like a fuse, so that other more important part(s) would not be damaged when there is an impact. Something's Got to Give. This is like the Newton's Third Law - for every action, there is a reaction. However, if something bends way too easily or unreasonably, you may want to upgrade to suit your needs.
