I've been using the Honda Motorcycle oil made for wet clutches for over 2 years now... I think its called GN4... it works well, no clutch slipping.

Don't run Honda oil in your DS! That is sacrilege!

I use Bel Ray Semi-Synthetic Thumper oil, good price and works well.

I have a yamaha grizzly 660. After some research I found Shell Rotella T synthetic 0-w40 oil at $14.00 per gallon or $3.50 per qt. and wal-mart 6607 oil filters at $2.07 The oil has no friction modifiers and is not energy conserving, so won't cause trouble with wet clutches ( like owners manual says) and is great quality oil in it's own right. The filters fit fine and they are not rocket science anyway, too much hype about this and that filter being engine blowers. If you listen around lots of guys are using stuff not made and priced by the factories and bikes are just fine. I keep oil changed every 20 hrs and have no complaints what so ever!!! Son uses same stuff in polaris 500 predator, no problems either!!

Hope this helps some of you wondering if you will hurt bike not staying with factory stuff.

Castrol 20/50 , been running it in my 4 strokes for 20 years, never had Clutch problems, the way I see it for the oil will never break down enough between amount of oil changes you will do, so why pour that money in the recycle bin.
I would like to see some oil testing, withstanding heat, shock loads, wetness, lubrication, whos runs cooler.
