Default Should my rancher be lurching.

I have a 2003 rancher es 2wd. When i get off of it in gear, as it idles it kind of twitches every couple of seconds, like the clutch is grabbing. Is this normal?? Did i not adjust my clutch properly? Is my idle too fast?

High idle will certainly do that, ...if you turn down the idle , does it get better?

Haven't tried turning down the idle yet... I don't know how to tell how many rpms it's turning... Is there a way to check the engine speed with a multimeter?

buy the TinyTach thing from dennis kirk or jr graham. It is a little tachometer/hour meter that you can mount on your handlebars. It has 2 wires, one you just solder a ring terminal on the end and bolt it to the engine, the other wire you wrap around the outside of the spark plug wire. There is no modification of the quad's wiring harness. I put one on my rancher and it works great.

I have a tach from redington, which only needs the one wire, to the spark plug lead. Its very portable, so you can velcro it on the quad, and then when you need to check another quad, or lawn mower or wave runner, or whatever, it just takes a second to remove and check another motor. It also has a built in hour meter, for keeping track of run time. It was like 40 bucks.
