blue smoke is oil burning.

If you have a 2-stroke, oil burning is normal operation and essential to proper lubrication

If you have a 4-stroke, they arent supposed to smoke and if it is, you have bad piston rings or worn valve guides/seals, or you're sucking oil through your breather tube. Could also be an over-oiled air filter.

yes it is a 4 stroke so it is not normal. maybe the guy i got it from might have had a bad mix of gas.

it is a 1989 and it was said to have a new top end piston and rings, but i looked in at the piston when i pulled the spark plug out, and it deffinetly did not look new. it has tons of power but it smokes. it is starting to smoke more every time i ride it seems like. but i dont know. i would like to know before i go tearing apart. thx
