rear brake pads(change)
#1
ssoo i am chaning my rear brake pads and i went to put the caliper back on and the damn thing won't go on... the bracket that holds the assembly together is hitting the rotor...
#2
The caliper is supposed to slide in and out, on the pins of the bracket. If you cant move it, then the slider is siezed.
Did you use a c clamp or vise to push the caliper piston back into the casting, to make room for the new pads?

slider?? i mean that i put new pads into it and if i try to put it on the rotor the bracket hits the rotor and won't let it go on.. i already psuhed the caliper back into the thing... should i be able to push the thing side to side??

if you take a picture I might be able to tell you what you're doing wrong, but I don't really understand how the bracket could be hitting the rotor. as they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words"

Here is a insert from service manual
16.) To make room for the new pads, the piston (figure 68) must be pushed back into the caliper.
This will force brakle fluid to backup through the hose and fill the master cylinder reservoir. To pre-
vent the reservoir from overflowing, remove some of the brake fluid as follows.
a) clean cap
b) remove cap and diaphragm
c) temporarily install the inside brake pad and push the piston back into caliper
d) keep eye on reservoir level and remove fluid if necessary
e)caliper piston should move freely if not needs rebuilt
f)push the calpier piston all the way in to make room for new pads
g) remove the temp pad install
17) install new pads

This is a very common problem on rear disk brakes. When you replace it, make sure you relube that bolt(slider), every season, and it wont happen again.
If youre lucky, a propane torch may heat the casting enough, to unscrew the bolt. They usually have thread locker on the threads, so heat that area too.
