which exhaust for utility hmf, fmf, or big gun??
#1
I am going to purchase an exhaust this week for my 04 kodiak 450.
which will give me the best power gains, and ups and downs of each??
FMF powerline?? do you need to jet it, is it good?
HMF utility series, you can get it a quiet core and a jet kit for 240bucks.
BIG GUN expensive is it any better than the other two??
thanks guys,
Jason

I got the HMF Utility on my Grizz, it is the best pipe I've ever seen for quality construction and it fits perfectly and the power gains were excellent.
I dont have the quiet core, and it is stupid loud. They say the quiet core will reduce noise by 3-4 DB which isn't crap when your dealing with the kind of noise these things produce.
I am serious about the noise, I want power gains as much as the next guy but this pipe is so loud I am going to take it off and put the stock pipe back on. It is truly obnoxious.

I have the HMF on my Vinson, and it's great! You WILL need to re-jet, and replace the stock air filter to get the full benefit. The pipe and Dyno-Jet kit has improved my quad considerably on the low-mid range. I have the quiet core but don't use it. It knocks the noise down right smart ( power w/ it also, but not bad ) It IS definately louder than stock. I was concerned about noise to begin with also, but I LOVE this pipe! It's really not that bad. Is is NO louder than any stock motorcycle. ( on my quad anyways ) Don't know about any of the others you mentioned!

I am hoping I will get the Big Gun this week for my Rancher, it depends on how much the shop charges me to get it fixed first. I will let you know what I think when I get mine on. Any aftermarket pipe is going to be louder than stock though even your quit core's.

Dirtydude , was that pipe of yours the Penland Pro or race? I am looking at the same thing for mine because I am installing a mud buster can along with some head work and I want mine to breath! I wish you weren't so far away I would be able to listen! hahaha.

I'll go fire it up at exactly 9:00 am monday morning, now remember your a couple time zones away so it'll be 12:00pm in Maine.
I'll point the pipe towards you and rev'er up really good, I think you might be able to hear it clear across the states from washington to maine.

I went with the Powerline and am pretty happy. I did the jets at the same time so don't know about doing one without the other. The noise level is louder than stock, but not a lot.
